Why "Ehrensache"?
Our towns were built by people who are older today: they founded clubs, built houses, raised children, kept the fire brigade going. When they need support today with mowing the lawn, shopping or getting to the doctor, helping is not a favour for us – it is Ehrensache.
And it goes both ways: those who have lived a long life have a lot to give – stories from the past, skills nobody remembers any more, recipes, time for reading aloud. That is part of Ehrensache too.
How it works
- Request help – briefly describe what help is needed. This can also be children or grandchildren from afar do for their parents and grandparents.
- Helpers from your town see the request – still without name, phone number and address.
- Someone says yes – only then do the contact details become visible, and you both get an email with name and phone number.
- All done? Say thank you! A short thank-you is sent by email to the helper. The municipality page shows how often help has been given in town.
Offer experience & tell stories
- Offer experience: Storytelling café at the primary school, fixing bikes with teenagers, baking with children, reading aloud, Low German – interested people sign up via the page.
- Tell a story: What was the town like in the past? The loveliest memories appear in the portal and stay – a memory of the town for the next generations.
Trust and safety
- Become a helper only unlocked after personal contact.
- Requests are only visible in your own town, and contact details only to the person who helps.
- Please don't give any health information – just describe what needs to be done.
- Beware of fraud: Genuine #Ehrensache helpers only come to you after a commitment has been made – and they never ask for money.
What does it cost?
Nothing. It's Ehrensache, after all – free of charge, voluntary and without obligation. A piece of cake as a thank-you is of course allowed.
For municipalities, clubs and parishes
A local club can take on the #Ehrensache in its town: as a sponsor who knows the helpers and keeps an eye on requests – and, if desired, also as Local Guide for the town. As thanks, the club receives, for the duration of its involvement, a membership of its choice for one person, free of charge – for example B2B partner with all the benefits.
